Highlights Audio Cassettes Each book has grown to include other creative disciplines, particularly music. Matthew Smith, the Minneapolis musician, and I have made music audio cassettes to accompany each book, and On the Day You Were Born and The Animal That Drank Up Sound, with the magnificent voice of William Stafford, are available through Harcourt Brace. Video Project In 1996 the Minnesota Orchestra produced an animated video tape of On the Day You Were Born, The Symphony, with Steve Heitzeg's music. The symphony is followed by interviews with the author and composer in the places where they were born: a Florida beach town, and a farm in southern Minnesota. A beautiful product produced by Minnesota artists. (30 minutes, $19.95, call 1-800-MN-Notes, inquire about poster for the classroom.) In addition, Debra worked closely with the MN Orchestra to produce a very comprehensive curriculum kit for school/teacher purchase. This kit includes the book, video, CD, and extensive reproducibles for K-6th. Contact the Minnesota Orchestra, MOVE office, or visit their web site. |
