Presentations

Several topics for elementary and middle school classroom visits, with age-appropriate writing exercises. A DVD or video may be used as part of author's presentation.

1) The Making of a Writer: Are you a writer already? (Includes author's brief personal history, such as writing a much-cliched story in fifth grade.)
2) Tell a Frienship Story: When Betsy Met Tacy (uses a major theme of the Betsy-Tacy book series)
3) The Gift of History: Maud Hart Lovelace and Laura Ingalls Wilder (appropriate for Minnesota History unit).
4) Facts and Foibles: The adventurous, eccentric Mayo family (also for Minnesota History unit).
5) Time Travel: The delight and despair of doing research

Fees

$100 for one-hour presentation, $250 for half day, $400 for full day. Mileage compensation beyond a 50-mile distance from Mankato. Lunch with students, teachers, librarians, and anyone else who loves books is a desired bonus.
