Highlights

In 1982 Waldman published A Cup of Christmas Tea written by Tom Hegg and illustrated by me. The wonderful response to this book has led to several other satisfying and diverse collaborations with the author, Tom Hegg. These books published by Waldman are usually classified by libraries as adult: Up to the Lake, 1986; The Mark of the Maker, 1991; and To Nourish Any Flower, 1994. The response also awakened the writer that was hibernating within me. So now, in addition to illustrating Tom's works, I am enjoying the complete creation of my own books. By concentrating upon the reader, I am able to have the fun of creating an array of books of a wide variety. In 1993, A is For Adult: An Alphabet Book for Grown-Ups, written by me, was published by Waldman. The Next Place, which I wrote and illustrated was released in August, 1997. For both children and adults, it is a calm, comforting, lyrical, non-religious look at what it might be like for us after this life.

Presentations

For children-- I like to speak at their level, without condescending. I read a story, ask and answer questions, and give them a look at the process that led to the book. For adults -- I weave readings and background information into a theme that has something to do with the group, usually of mildly uplifting or motivational nature. I use humor to offset the touching nature of the works I read. Often I will include the performance of original songs.

Fees

Compensation is negotiable. I request to be allowed to sell and sign books. Because of my schedule, I do limit the number of presentation opportunities I accept. My acceptance often depends on the feeling of enthusiasm and support I get from the sponsoring organization. Please contact me through my website: warrenhanson.com
