Highlights I am enjoying watching my stories spread to other cultures, other media. My first picture book has been used as the basis of a children's dance-drama, as an Indonesian shadow-puppet play, as the central text of a Lenten study guide, as the core of a social studies unit; it has been translated to Japanese, Finnish, Russian, Spanish, German and Afrikaans. Roxaboxen is already following similar paths; and the site, itself, is now being preserved as a park by the city of Yuma, so children can use it forever as a playground for the imagination. A theoretical adaptation, produced by the Magic Theatre, premiered in Fall, 1996, in San Antonio. |

Presentations I am comfortable with all age groups, and with formal presentations as well as informal settings. I particularly love full days in elementary schools, working interactively with groups of the smallest size practicable. I don't set any limit to the number of sessions that can be scheduled within one day. (Guidelines are available to help schools get the most of my visit.) I'm bilingual, and welcome opportunities to use my Spanish. Other forms of presentation to be negotiated. |
