Highlights

I have written curriculum guides on computer discs to accompany each book. These can be used for vocabulary development, quizzes and tests.

Awards

Signs of Spring. NY Public Library Books for the Teen Age, 1996; Bood Scene Especially for Teens, 1996; Intertribal Indian Editorial Board for the Council for Indian Education. Approved for use with Native American Children, 1996.

Presentations

Visits typically include 4 or 5 presentations per day for 45 minutes each. Presentations are about the process of writing novels. I spend time on the creative process, figurative language, word choice, plus some of the nuts and bolts of writing including plot, characterization, conflict, etc. We also discuss the process of getting published and some of the business side of authorship. Time is allowed for questions and answers. I bring my guitar and perform a song or two about my stories. This is always a hit with the children. I have presented to young people at numerous schools, writing workshops, and bookstores in communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Fees

Schools -- 4 or 5 presentations per school day --
