Highlights

Along with well-known experts such as: Ted Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Nancy Snyderman, Minnesota author, publisher and cancer survivor Amelia Frahm has been selected for the 2002 National Cancer Survivors Day Speakers Bureau. Frahm established the Nutcracker Publishing Company in October 2000 in honor of her best friend Laura Bouldin Karlman, a young mother who died of Leukemia. One year later she published its first title Tickles Tabitha’s Cancer-tankerous Mommy. That same month she was invited to appear on the Rosie O'Donnell Show in New York City to promote her book. Her appearance was cancelled when Anthrax was discovered at NBC studios where the show is filmed. However Frahm’s book survived the Anthrax threat and received the endorsement of talk show host Rosie O'Donnell who presented it to a national television audience during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Approved by the National Oncology Nursing Society Tickles Tabitha’s Cancer-tankerous Mommy captured the attention of Barr Laboratories Inc., manufacture of the breast cancer drug Tamoxifen even before its October 2001 publication date. Amelia Frahm, her book, and her children are featured in Barr’s 2001 annual report. Literary, medical and entertainment critics alike have all highly recommended Tickles Tabitha’s Cancer-tankerous Mommy and Frahm has appeared on numerous television and radio shows. "A clarity and candor laced with humor and insight. Very highly recommended for acquisition by school and community library "health issues" collections." The Midwest Book Review. July 2001. "A great way to get your kids to talk about cancer.” Rosie O'Donnell- on the Rosie O'Donnell Show. Oct. 2001 "For any parent who wants their child to learn empathy for others." Aribella e-Magazine. "Includes the sudden hush children feel whenever their world isn't what they expect." Today's Dallas Woman. Oct. 2001 "It takes a humorous approach to one of the many down sides of battling cancer- being cantankerous. Eye-popping, gloriously colored illustrations." Today's Librarian. Sept 2001

Presentations

Whether you’re a working professional, retired or in grade school, if you’ve ever dreamed of doing something others have scoffed, Amelia Frahm will inspire you to quit fantasizing about what you’d like to do and just do it! Frahm has written and implemented presentations from Tennessee to Texas on such diverse issues as nuclear power to recreational activities for nursing home residents. She’s presented school programs, teacher’s workshops, employee orientations and informational speeches to organizations, corporations and civic groups. An eight-year cancer survivor she understood intimately the need for an honest and humorous resource for children and their adult caregivers regarding cancer and October 2001 she published it. A self-proclaimed Cancer-tankerous Expert she calls her first title “fictional reality” and says she hopes it will help “dispel certain stereotypes or preconceived ideas about cancer.” Her presentations are simultaneously compelling and inspirational.
