Highlights I was a clinical psychologist for over 31 years and now, as my second career, I write children's books and stories for children's magazines (including Highlights for Children, Pockets, My Friend, and others). I'm currently a writer and consultant for the Heroes & Dreams Foundation which provides character education materials to schools K-8 throughout the United States and Canada and I'm a recipient of the National Character Education Center's Award for "Exemplary Leadership in Ethics Education" (2000). I've been listed in Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in America, Contemporary Authors, and Who's Who in the 21st Century, and I was also "Author of the Month" for MyShelf.com for December 2003. |

Presentations I prefer small-group interaction where everyone has the opportunity to participate. I enjoy visiting individual classes where we read a story from one of my books together, discuss the thought questions at the end of the story, and then finish with an open discussion where students can share their own personal experiences and ask questions. Frequently, if there is time, we role-play the different roles in the story, so that students have the opportunity to "experience" the same situation from different perspectives (this works exceptionally well when we read a story about "bullying"). |
