ReadWriteThink Offers standards-based teaching materials as well as professional development resources, student materials, guidelines for art-based instruction and assessment, advocacy tools, and interactive, media-rich activities. ReadWriteThink was established as a partnership between the International Reading Association and National Council of Teachers of English.
EDSITEment A user-friendly web site offering links to over a hundred top humanities sites, EDSITEment offers lesson plans with integrated resources to promote active learning. All linked websites have been reviewed for content, design, and educational impact in the classroom.
PBS Site offers a drop-down box for age groups and a drop-down box for topics: folklore, journalism, literature, mythology, non-fiction, poetry and writing.
Gateway For example, in the “Search the GEM Catalog” box, type a keyword. In the right-hand column, you have options to refine the search. Scroll down to select a grade level. Then scroll down again and select “Lesson Plan” under “Type." Then you can browse by “Keywords.” A brief description for each lesson is provided on the results page.
New York Times There are over a thousand results for an "English/Language Arts" search. The keyword search can help you further refine your results. Most of the lessons are interdisciplinary.
Learn NC LearnNC offers instructional plans for lessons and units from North Carolina educators and national partners. You may browse lessons by grade level and subject area as well as by keywords or phrases. WebQuests In the black box on the left-hand side, click on “Find WebQuests.” Then in the grey box at the bottom of the page, select a subject and grade. A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.
